I attended the first day of The Society of Wildlife Artists Annual Exhibition yesterday, opened by Ben Fogle (pictured). It was a really great day. There were over 400 pieces of art on sale in a huge variety of styles. There were sculptural, abstract, figurative, impressionistic and character filled pieces in a huge variety of medium.

I had two pieces in the exhibition and was lucky enough to sell them both. In fact, the first one sold within an hour of the exhibition opening. I have to admit that I was a little nervous to begin with but my nerves soon settled once I'd sold a piece.

There were a couple of artists that really stood out for me. One was Paul Bartlett who won the Birdwatch Artist of the Year award for 'Golden Plovers over Tiree'. He had 6 pieces in the exhibition (the maximum allowed for a non member) and has really come up with a truly unique style that impressed me very much. The other was Bruce Pierson who again has a unique style and has produced some stunning art in the past that has had me mesmerised.

All in all it was a great day, there was a huge array of wonderful art on show, and I was extremely flattered to be involved.
